I hope you like the short book too. It is worth to read it! I am not telling about the story too much– never do in my book reviews – you have to read the book yourself and make your own opinion.
In my view…
The story is about the family Liljecrona who spend yearly a weekend all together on the island Valö. It all happens shortly before the Christmas days.
It is a short but nice little literary thriller. By a pair of events and the thoughts of the members of the Liljecrona family, the tension of the book speeds up. I think this is a book that could be filmed as a short film, maybe commissioned in a 48-hour project or something like that.
Writing style / spelling
In this little book I just found one spelling mistake – in the Dutch version. But it reads quickly and not too many or too little details in the sentences. Short but powerful.
Main characters
The characters are very different and that makes it fun. It also reminds me of the board game named ‘Cluedo’. Members of the Liljecrona family are: grandfather Ruben is the main character of the story in the family. His son Harald who is married to Britt-Marie and their children Mattias and Lisette. The other son of Ruben: Gustav, who is married to Viveca and their children Bernard and Miranda.
The other main character who is not part of the family is police officer Martin Molin. Who happens to be at the island too during that weekend. He leads you through the story.
This little book is a nice addition to read in one day (or two) if you like literary thrillers.
