In June I have been for another afternoon walk in the Diergaarde Blijdorp / Rotterdam Zoo. In the last hours of the day I walked the path past the elephant area and I saw a little one playing near the water. I captured it on video and made a little compilation to share it with you!
The Indian elephant group in the Rotterdam Zoo exists now of seven animals of three generations. Throughout the past thirty-three years, sixteen little Indian elephants have been born already. The first was Bernhardine, born in 1984 and she was the first elephant ever born in a Dutch Zoo. I think – not sure – that this little elephant is ‘Sunay’, son of Timber and Bangka. He is born on 20 August 2015.
