My book review of ” Ski Resort” written by Linda van Rijn
In my view
The story is about the 29-years young woman Nienke Draaijer who wins through Facebook an organised winter sports holiday to Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria. It is located in the southern part of Austria near Villach and the Slovenian and Italian border. Nienke has lost her job and just turned single so it was time for some distraction, take a break in life and just enjoy it. And exactly now she is one of the winners of the ski trip. Is it a real coincidence or is it a too-good-to-be-true coincidence.
The story is not hyped in The Netherlands, it is rated less than 500 times in total (Goodreads and Hebban; the two biggest bookcommunities in The Netherlands). The pace of the story is well outlined and the general storyline is oke. Now and then predictive and now and then you would expect a slightly different direction. So small surprises. I also like the other characters that are part of the ski trip and I would have liked it more if the other characters were much more unfolded. Some of them are and other are only appearing in the beginning and in the end and are therefor very shallow.
In this winter time, autumn has started and the winter clock is set, I love to read a book with a winter subject,
Style
This book is a very basic thriller story in one way and maybe therefore a good read for everyone who wants to write a book as well. Just to give an idea about how the story line unfolds accompanied by the characters and where things are in-depth or just shallow. Because if every character and situation was more detailed, the story would have been twice as big and that reduces the flow of the story line. Well, depends on what you like, everybody has his/her own taste.
So the pace of the story is average and has for my taste enough words, a bit of a quick read in a few evenings. And I did not note spelling or grammar errors so it is nice to read.
Characters
The main character is Nienke Draaijer and she goes on a ski trip to Bad Kirchenheim. Her fellow companions are very different. Maried, single, old, young, friends, family, an old acquaintance maybe? The characters that would have deserved a bigger part in the story, are Jaap and Emily; the senior couple of the whole group.

I hope you like the book too. It is worth to read it! I am not telling about the story too much, you have to read the book yourself and make your own opinion.
