I hope you like the book too. It is worth to read it! I am not telling about the story too much– never do in my book reviews – you have to read the book yourself and make your own opinion.

The ABOUT –> not the story only connected to news/real world etcetera the EXPLANATION, PREJUDICES?

This is a new Sherlock Holmes novel and I did not expect that someone else would write a new Sherlock Holmes novel ánd write it so accurate and successfully. The writer Anthony Horowitz has done a great job!

The novel starts with John Watson writing the story of what happened back in 1890 when he, after a while, started working with Holmes again on a new case. When you have read about a third of the book, you start wondering what do these new events have to do with the case the book starts with? Nearly at the end I had forgotten a bit where the book started with. A few names not mentioned for pages…all those new events coming to a clue. And even thát clue coming to the clue of the original case.

By the end I was totally flabbergasted. This novel is written so ingenious. I would think Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have written it himself, a decade after his last Sherlock Holmes novel for example. Really wow. I recommend this book to you!

Writing style / spelling

WRITING STYLE / SPELLING OR GRAMMAR MISTAKES AND SO ON

In this novel I have found no mistakes in the spelling or writing. Though I have to say that this novel about Sherlock Holmes is of a great level. I have read some new words for the first time and through the clear context I could understand their meaning. I really like this about reading books. Discovering new words to add to your own personal dictionary of a language. Dutch is my mother tongue and I believe English is my second language.

Because of the new words and the many events that occur in the story, it was tough to finish the book. I have read the first part in about two weeks. The second half of the book took me longer though. Due to my busy study period (March / April update) I could not concentrate enough to finish this story. You have to read at least two or three chapters at a time to not forget all the facts and where you are in the story at that moment. I have read a couple of chapters twice because I could not exactly remember what had occurred.

Main characters

The main characters of the story are of course the consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and his companion dr. John Watson. The police officer Lestrade plays also in several parts of the book. Another officer takes over for a while and a bunch of the rich and wealthy people play a big part in this novel also.

I recommend this book if you like the novels about Sherlock Holmes. This novel really is a nice addition. And if you like to read loads of facts and precise descriptions. And take your time to read this novel so you’ll not get lost between all the events.
