I hope you like the book too. It is worth to read it! I am not telling about the story too much– never do in my book reviews – you have to read the book yourself and make your own opinion.

In my view…

The story is about the Belgian detective Witse and he and his team solve different crimes. Besides the television series, some writers have written stories who will – probably – not be filmed. If you have seen several episodes of the television series, you can imagine how it all looks like. In this book Witse works together with colleagues from Brussels. It is a short story just written in 139 pages. Easy to read in just one or two days.

Writing style / spelling

The story is written in a pleasant way though I have found some spelling/grammar errors. Sometimes a word was missing and some sentences sounded like they were written in a Flanders accent or dialect. This made it a bit less easy to read now and then. But it keeps the story original to its surroundings.

Main characters

In another book review of Commisaris Witse I have written previously, I have described the characters.

There are a few characters who are the main characters through all the written episodes. Those characters are: Witse, the Belgian detective who is a bit stubborn but possesses a good instinct and doesn’t take everything for granted. He has his own police team that exists of the woman Tine Smets – most of the time his assistant in the field – and the men Romain van Deun and Rudy Dams. The big boss is the chief police officer Wijtinckx.

2016 – Sophie van den Akker – Witse | The Dutch Connection – Guido Eekhout

This time a cooperation with Brussels colleagues Stef Sant – detective -, Vic Moyson – police cop – and Mark Rogiers play a undefined role in this sequel. It all speaks for itself.

If you like television British series like ‘Midsomer Murders’ / ‘Inspector Morse’ / ‘Inspector Lewis’ / ‘DCI Banks’ and so on…this series named ‘Commissaris Witse’ is a nice Belgian modern version.I really loved reading it!
